Family of Four Injured in Late-Night Car Crash in Ramol

A late-night accident in Ahmedabad's Ramol area has left a family of four injured after a speeding car ploughed into the makeshift shed where they were sleeping. The incident occurred near Vadu talav, according to a First Information Report (FIR) filed with the police.

Details of the Midnight Mishap

The complainant, a 33-year-old labourer originally from Banswada in Rajasthan, stated he was asleep with his family when the crash happened close to midnight on Monday. The speeding vehicle allegedly veered off the road and crashed directly into the temporary shelter. The impact was so severe that the structure collapsed, trapping the labourer and his family underneath the debris.

The injured include the labourer's 30-year-old wife, who sustained wounds to her abdomen and chest. Their two young children, a five-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son, suffered head and ear injuries, respectively. All four victims were rushed to LG Hospital for immediate medical treatment.

Police Action and Investigation Findings

Inspector A Y Patel of the I Division Traffic Police confirmed the incident, stating that the speeding vehicle injured all four family members. Police have seized the car and arrested the accused driver at the scene. The accused is a 27-year-old resident of Hathijan.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was not intoxicated at the exact time of the accident but had consumed alcohol earlier in the afternoon. An FIR has been registered under relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections for rash driving, acts endangering life or safety of others, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Aftermath and Official Notice

Following treatment, three of the four injured have been discharged from the hospital. The complainant labourer himself underwent surgery on his right leg and is recovering. The police have identified that the family was staying at the site of a lake-interlinking project.

In a significant move, the police have issued a formal notice to the concerned construction company. The notice directs the firm not to construct accommodation sheds so close to main roads, highlighting a critical safety lapse that contributed to the tragedy.
