Major Fire Erupts in Faridabad Guest House, Four Individuals Safely Rescued
A significant fire incident caused panic and chaos in Sector 28 of Faridabad on Friday afternoon, as flames engulfed a five-storey guest house, trapping four individuals inside. The emergency response teams, including police, Haryana State Disaster Response Force (HSDRF), and firefighters, successfully rescued all trapped persons from the rear of the building, averting a potential tragedy.
Timeline and Cause of the Fire
The fire department received an alert at approximately 1:29 PM, reporting that Building No. 3401 in Sector 28 was on fire with four people trapped. Officials stated that the fire originated in an electrical panel on the ground floor, likely due to a short circuit. Four fire engines and an HSDRF team were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Rescue Operations and Challenges
DCP East Gaurav Rajpurohit and ACP East Vikas Kaushik arrived promptly after being informed. The fire was near the main entrance, causing smoke to spread rapidly throughout the building. Police and fire brigade personnel attempted to access the first floor using side railings but were hindered by heavy smoke from the front. Consequently, they utilized ropes, grills, and stairs from the rear to reach the top floor and evacuate the trapped individuals, including three women.
A senior police officer highlighted the bravery and swift action of the teams, noting that their prompt response prevented a major disaster. The fire was completely extinguished by 2:40 PM, within about an hour of the initial report. Although the flames were contained to the ground floor, they had begun spreading to the second floor, raising serious concerns.
Damage and Building Details
The guest house, rented by a company, consists of five floors (ground plus four) with four 1-BHK units on each floor, totaling 18 rooms occupied at the time. The fire destroyed items on the ground floor, including a refrigerator and air conditioner. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and all residents were safely evacuated.
Recognition for Bravery
In recognition of their heroic efforts, the Gurugram police spokesperson announced that DCP (East) will issue commendation letters to the police personnel, fire brigade team, and local residents who risked their lives by entering the burning building to save others. This incident underscores the importance of coordinated emergency response in urban settings.
