Masked Robbers Terrorize Family in Faridabad Home Invasion
In a brazen late-night incident, four masked men stormed into the residence of a businessman in Faridabad's Mohna village, holding his family hostage and making off with jewellery valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh. The robbery, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, escalated when the homeowner resisted, prompting the assailants to fire a gunshot before fleeing the scene.
Detailed Account of the Terrifying Ordeal
According to police reports, the incident unfolded around 2 am. The accused arrived on two motorcycles and a scooter, first disabling the CCTV cameras installed on the road outside by cutting their wires. They then removed a glass panel from the main door to gain entry into the house.
The businessman, Praveen, who runs hardware and fast-food ventures, was asleep on the first floor with his wife. His parents, Veerpal and Krishna, were sleeping on the ground floor. One of the intruders, armed with a country-made pistol, held Veerpal and Krishna at gunpoint, threatening to kill them if they raised an alarm. The other three robbers, carrying iron rods and a pipe, proceeded to ransack wardrobes and beds.
The loot included a gold chain, two gold rings, silver coins, and silver anklets. In a particularly distressing moment, the assailants forced Krishna to remove her earrings and gold chain.
Resistance and Narrow Escape
Earlier, the robbers had gone upstairs and latched Praveen's room from the outside. Awakened by the noise, Praveen found the door locked. He ingeniously removed a plywood sheet fitted above the air-conditioner, reached out, and unlatched the door from the outside.
As he stepped out, he encountered one of the men standing outside his parents' room. When ordered to stay silent, Praveen defiantly picked up a flower pot and hurled it at the accused. In response, the gunman fired a shot at him, but Praveen miraculously escaped unhurt. The sound of the gunshot alerted neighbours, prompting the assailants to flee while issuing threats.
Police Investigation and Suspicions
Police from the Chhainsa police station and crime branch teams swiftly reached the spot and registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 309(4) for robbery, 311 for robbery or dacoity with use of a deadly weapon, and 351(2) for criminal intimidation, along with Section 25 of the Arms Act.
Investigators suspect that the accused may be locals, as they appeared familiar with the layout of the house. The men, aged between 25 and 30 years, spoke in a local dialect, according to the complainant. Police are currently scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas and probing whether the house was surveyed prior to the crime.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the Mohna village community, highlighting concerns about home security and criminal activities in the region. Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the culprits and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
