Farm Route Dispute Ends in Stabbing in Mandsaur

Indore: A dispute over a farm access route escalated into violence on Saturday night when a woman was allegedly stabbed during a clash between two factions of a family in Setkhedi village, Mandsaur district.

The victim, Chandabai Kumawat, sustained a serious chest injury and is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Police reported that the incident originated from an ongoing disagreement over a pathway leading to agricultural land. Although the family's farmland had been previously partitioned, both sides have reportedly been at odds over the use of a route passing through government land.

According to a complaint filed by Ramniwas Kumawat, he was working in the field with his family members when his uncle Rameshwar and other relatives arrived with an excavator machine, intending to dig a trench for a pipeline. Objections raised by Ramniwas caused the machine operator to leave the site, but tensions continued to simmer.

Shortly after, the relatives allegedly returned, and an argument broke out. What began as a verbal confrontation quickly escalated into violence. During the scuffle, Chandabai was allegedly attacked with a knife in her chest.

The complainant also accused the other side of assaulting his mother Pratapbai, physically attacking him, and slapping his daughter Shraddha during the altercation. After receiving an alert, a Dial-112 team arrived at the village and transported the injured to the district hospital for treatment.

Police have registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation. Officers are recording statements of those involved and examining the circumstances that led to the clash.
