The tragic event occurred after midnight on Saturday in Paschimi Bhitha Bahiyar, located under the Ismailpur police station in the Naugachia police district of Bhagalpur, Bihar.
Family Discovers Gruesome Scene on Sunday Morning
Family members made the horrifying discovery early on Sunday morning when they visited the cowshed and found Mandal's body lying in a pool of blood. Overcome with panic, they immediately raised an alarm, alerting neighbors and fellow villagers, and promptly informed the Ismailpur police about the brutal murder.
Police Investigation Reveals Close-Range Shooting
According to police sources, the assailants fired twice from close range to ensure Mandal's death, as evidenced by the recovery of two empty bullet shells from the crime scene. SHO Dheeraj Kumar of Ismailpur police station confirmed that the body of the elderly farmer was recovered on Sunday. He stated that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has been requisitioned to conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
FIR Registered and Post-Mortem Ordered
An FIR has been officially registered in connection with the murder. SHO Kumar provided further details, noting, "All that the family members could tell us was that they saw the body early Sunday morning, which suggests the murder likely occurred around midnight when everyone inside the house was fast asleep." The police have taken custody of the body, which is being sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather additional forensic evidence.
