Farmer, Son, and Nephew Arrested for Alleged Murder in Muzaffarnagar Village
In a shocking incident in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a 45-year-old farmer, his minor son, and nephew have been arrested for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old man. The crime occurred in Shahdara Bangar village under the Bhopa police station area, with police confirming the arrests on Wednesday.
Details of the Crime and Arrests
The victim, identified as Akshay Kumar, was attacked while returning from his agricultural field on Monday evening. According to police reports, the prime accused, Manoj Kumar, along with his minor son and nephew Bharat Kumar (in his early 20s), allegedly assaulted Akshay with sharp-edged weapons before shooting him dead. All three suspects were apprehended within 24 hours of the incident, showcasing swift police action.
Senior Police Officer Aditya Bansal, SP (Rural), stated that eyewitnesses played a crucial role in identifying the accused. "Upon receiving information about the murder, we arrived at the location and conducted a detailed inspection. Based on eyewitness accounts, the accused were identified and arrested," he explained. The police teams acted promptly to ensure the perpetrators were taken into custody.
Motivation Behind the Murder
During interrogation, the accused confessed that the murder was driven by anger over a past relationship. Police revealed that Akshay had previously been in a relationship with Manoj's 40-year-old wife, which had caused prolonged family tensions. The woman allegedly died by suicide six months ago after consuming poison, following the dispute. Akshay, who was also a relative of Manoj, had been staying outside the village and had returned just a day before the fatal attack.
The police emphasized that the crime was a result of simmering resentment and familial conflict, highlighting how personal disputes can escalate into violent acts in rural areas.
Weapons Recovered and Legal Proceedings
In the investigation, police recovered the weapons used in the crime, including a country-made pistol, a sickle, and a knife. One of the accused reportedly used the pistol, while the others attacked with the sharp-edged tools. A case has been registered under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and all three accused have been sent to judicial custody.
