Young Farmer Survives Brutal Murder Attempt in Palwal District

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the region, a 21-year-old farmer narrowly escaped death after being subjected to a horrific attack by an armed mob in Palwal district. The assailants allegedly tied the victim to a tractor and drove the vehicle into the Yamuna river in what appears to be a premeditated attempt on his life.

Violent Confrontation on Rainibell Road

The terrifying ordeal unfolded on Wednesday morning in the Hassanpur area when the victim, identified as Ashok, was traveling with his father Megh Singh and cousin Girvar. The three were transporting a tractor loaded with sugarcane from their fields in Maholi village to the Palwal sugar mill when their journey took a violent turn.

According to the detailed complaint filed by Megh Singh, more than thirty armed men intercepted their tractor on Rainibell Road around 10 AM on January 21. The attackers were reportedly equipped with firearms, country-made pistols, axes, and wooden sticks, suggesting a well-planned assault.

Escalation of Violence and River Plunge

Two of the accused individuals, identified as Lalit and Pota, allegedly climbed onto the moving tractor and pointed a pistol directly at Ashok, forcing the vehicle to come to a complete stop. What followed was a brutal physical assault as Ashok was dragged from the tractor and beaten mercilessly with various weapons.

When Megh Singh and Girvar attempted to intervene and rescue Ashok, the attackers reportedly fired shots in their direction, forcing them to retreat for their own safety. The situation then escalated to terrifying new heights as the assailants tied Ashok to the side seat of the tractor and deliberately drove the vehicle toward the Yamuna river.

In a final act of brutality, the tractor with Ashok still tied to it was pushed into the river waters. The accused fled the scene only after local villagers arrived and alerted authorities about the unfolding tragedy.

Rescue Operation and Medical Aftermath

Police and emergency response teams reached the location promptly and launched a rescue operation. Using specialized equipment including a crane, authorities managed to pull the submerged tractor from the river and rescue Ashok from his precarious situation.

The young farmer was immediately transported for urgent medical treatment. Medical professionals examining Ashok confirmed he sustained at least seven serious injuries from the attack, though his survival has been described as miraculous given the circumstances.

Police Investigation and Additional Allegations

Law enforcement authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against twenty-nine named accused individuals along with ten unidentified persons. The charges filed are severe and comprehensive, including attempt to murder, abduction, and rioting.

In addition to the violent assault, the victim's family has alleged that gold jewellery and approximately eight thousand rupees in cash were stolen during the incident. Police officials have confirmed they are actively verifying these additional claims as part of their ongoing investigation.

Root Cause: Longstanding Land Dispute

Preliminary investigations conducted by authorities suggest this violent incident stems from an old land dispute between the involved parties. The attack appears to be the latest escalation in a conflict that has apparently been simmering for some time, though the exact nature and duration of the dispute remain under active police scrutiny.

This case highlights the sometimes violent nature of land conflicts in rural areas and raises serious questions about rural security and dispute resolution mechanisms. The Palwal district police have assured the public that they are pursuing all investigative angles and will ensure justice is served in this disturbing case of attempted murder and mob violence.
