Daylight Robbery in Farrukhabad: Employee Shot, ₹7.5 Lakh Looted
A cash collection company employee was shot and robbed of a substantial sum of money in a brazen daylight incident in Farrukhabad on Monday. The robbery, which took place in the Gunjan Vihar colony, has sent shockwaves through the area and prompted a police investigation.
The Sequence of Events
The victim, identified as Rajesh Kumar Sharma, a resident of Sakwai village in the Mohammadabad area, was an employee of the Radiant Cash Management Company. According to details, Sharma had collected cash from multiple centres and was carrying approximately ₹7.5 lakh in total. This included ₹1,32,720 from a courier office, which he collected around 2:40 PM, and about ₹6 lakh from other centres, all secured in a bag.
As he was travelling between the ITI police outpost of Kadiriganj police station and the Central Jail outpost of Fatehgarh police station, two men on a motorcycle intercepted him. The assailants attempted to snatch the bag containing the cash. In the ensuing struggle, one of the robbers kicked Sharma off his bike. The other robber then fired a shot, injuring Sharma, before both fled the scene with the money bag.
Police Response and Evidence Collected
After being informed by the courier office manager, Alok Yadav, who was alerted by Sharma, police control room number 112 was contacted. Law enforcement officials arrived at the crime scene approximately half an hour later. The injured employee was promptly admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Police officers, including CO Mohammadabad Ajay Verma and personnel from Kadiriganj police station, visited the hospital. The investigative team has secured crucial evidence from the spot. A cartridge shell was recovered from the crime scene. Furthermore, investigators have obtained CCTV footage of the suspects from a nearby house. In a potentially significant lead, one of the robber's mobile phones was found at the spot where the incident occurred.
Ongoing Investigation and Next Steps
Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh addressed the media, stating that a formal First Information Report (FIR) will be registered as soon as a written complaint is received. The recovery of the mobile phone and the CCTV footage are expected to be pivotal in identifying and tracking down the motorcycle-borne culprits. The police are actively pursuing all leads to solve this violent robbery case swiftly.
This incident highlights the risks faced by cash logistics personnel and raises concerns about security in the area. The local police have assured the public that they are dedicating resources to apprehend the accused and prevent such crimes in the future.
