Ahmedabad Father Denies Involvement in Daughters' Deaths, Blames Contaminated Dosa Batter
In a heartfelt and emotional media interview that has gone viral on social media platform X, Vimal Prajapati, the father of two young girls who tragically died under suspicious circumstances in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, has vehemently denied any involvement in their deaths. He has called for restraint and urged the public not to jump to conclusions until forensic analysis reports are officially released.
Father's Emotional Plea and Account of Events
Vimal Prajapati, who is grieving the loss of his three-month-old daughter Raha and four-year-old daughter Mishri, expressed deep sorrow and regret. "I am in deep grief, and regret that I could not save my daughters," he stated during the interview. "It was I who informed the police and demanded a postmortem to ascertain the cause of their deaths." He emphasized that his family has only reported the facts, which indicate that the family fell ill after consuming items made from a specific batter.
He added, "We have only reported the facts, which remains that the family fell ill only after consuming items made from the batter. There is no foul play from our side." The girls died a day apart, with police describing the circumstances as suspicious. Both Vimal and his wife Bhavna also became ill and required hospitalization, according to case details.
Police Investigation and Passive Infanticide Angle
While Vimal was questioned by police on Friday, Bhavna faced interrogation on Monday evening. Authorities are probing a potential passive infanticide angle in Raha's case after discovering a diary entry in which Bhavna expressed a desire to have a male child. Bhavna explained to police that the entry was written after Mishri's birth and implied that their family would be complete if the next child was a boy.
She has attributed the deaths of Raha and Mishri to contamination in the dosa batter purchased from a local store. However, police have found this claim unconvincing, particularly since no other customers who bought batter from the same shop have reported any illness.
Family's Devastation and Call Against Rumors
Vimal Prajapati has spoken out against what he describes as "rumour-mongering" and "blaming without any conclusive evidence," stating that this is causing further agony to his already aggrieved family. "Who will be responsible if the misinformation causes my family further harm?" he questioned, highlighting the emotional toll of the situation.
He maintained that the girls were not discriminated against and were well cared for. "My mother, Kusum, and my wife have been inconsolable. I too have spent nights crying. Everyone in the family is in a state of shock," Vimal shared, describing the profound impact of the tragedy on his family.
Key Details of the Incident
On April 1, Vimal purchased 3kg of dosa batter from a dairy in the area, which he claims led to the deaths. The police investigation continues as they seek to determine the exact cause of the girls' deaths, with forensic reports pending. The case has drawn significant public attention, underscoring the need for thorough investigation and sensitivity towards the grieving family.
