Visakhapatnam: The father of 27-year-old IT professional P Radha Gayatri, who was found dead in mysterious circumstances at a homestay near Mussoorie, has said he does not suspect any foul play in her death.
Gayatri, a native of Vizag who was working in Gurugram, had checked in at the homestay along with her husband Soumya Sricharan, an IT professional in Pune and also a native of Vizag, on Sunday night. On Monday morning, Mussoorie police received information about the death of Gayatri at the homestay.
On being informed about the tragedy, Gayatri's father Parupudi Sudhakar, who is a retired army man, rushed with other family members to Mussoorie on Tuesday. Speaking to TOI on phone, he said losing his daughter is the "greatest pain" of his life, but added that he does not suspect any foul play in her death.
Family Background and Recent Events
Gayatri hailed from Chinnamushidiwada locality in Pendurthi area of Vizag, while her husband Sricharan hails from Maddilapalem area in the city. The couple got married on November 8 last year.
Gayatri's relatives said the couple was supposed to visit Vizag on June 18 to attend the 60th birthday celebrations of Sudhakar on June 19. She had also purchased a flat in Vizag a few months before her marriage, and Sudhakar planned to perform a puja at the new flat with the couple after June 19. A few months ago, Gayatri was transferred to Gurugram, and her husband, who is now posted in Pune, was also expecting a transfer to Gurugram soon.
Police Investigation and Postmortem
Mussoorie police said the couple came from Delhi to Rishikesh on June 13, before checking into a room at the homestay at around 11:30 pm on Sunday. Sricharan told the police that they went to sleep at around 3:30 am. He said when he woke up in the morning, he found his wife unresponsive in a puddle of urine, with blood oozing from her nose. The body was found on the floor and bloodstains were spotted on the bedsheet. Empty liquor bottles and some food items were also found in the room. Police said they are waiting for the postmortem report to establish the exact reason behind the death.
Sudhakar said a team of doctors conducted postmortem at Coronation Hospital in Dehradun. He said once the body is handed over, he will shift it to Vizag where the last rites will be held.
