A shocking incident unfolded at the Badausa police station in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, where a father allegedly stabbed his 19-year-old daughter to death after she refused to leave her lover. The victim, identified as Shivani, had eloped with Lalit (23) on the night of May 18.
Incident Details
Shivani, a resident of Barchha village in the Badausa police station area, had left her home with her partner. Her mother filed an FIR against Lalit, accusing him of enticing and abducting her daughter. Police had been searching for the couple since then.
On Friday morning, police located Shivani and Lalit in the Baraundha area of Satna district, Madhya Pradesh, and brought them to the Badausa police station. During interrogation, both families were informed and summoned. It was then that the family learned the young woman had married her lover.
Father's Rage
Despite her father's prolonged attempts to persuade her to return home, Shivani remained adamant about staying with Lalit. In a fit of rage, her father, Satya Kumar, allegedly stabbed her four times with a knife—three wounds to her abdomen and one to her hand.
Police personnel quickly intervened and transported the injured woman to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in a private vehicle. After initial treatment, doctors referred her to Rani Durgavati Medical College due to the severity of her injuries. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival.
Legal Action
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother, Ranno Chauhan, police registered an FIR against Satya Kumar. Police station in-charge Ajit Kumar confirmed that the accused father has been apprehended and appropriate actions are being undertaken.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of honor killings in the region, where family members resort to violence against women who choose their own partners.
