A 32-year-old police constable from Agra was discovered dead in her rented accommodation in Aligarh on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the police community. The incident occurred in the Jawahar Nagar area under the jurisdiction of Banna Devi police station.
Final Message Before Tragedy
Moments before her death, the constable identified as Hemlata posted a heartbreaking status on social media that read "Mujhe Maaf Kar Dena" (Please forgive me). This final message was noticed by a fellow female constable who grew concerned about Hemlata's wellbeing.
When police officials received information about the suspicious social media post, they immediately rushed to her residence. After breaking open the door of her room, they made the grim discovery of Hemlata hanging from the ceiling.
Immediate Police Response and Investigation
A team from Banna Devi police station quickly transported Hemlata to the district hospital, where doctors officially declared her dead upon arrival. DSP Kamlesh Singh provided details about the police response, stating that upon receiving information about the incident, officers rushed to the spot and called in the forensic team to collect evidence.
"The forensic team was called to collect evidence from the scene," DSP Singh confirmed. "The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and we have informed the deceased's family about this tragic incident."
Police authorities have revealed that Hemlata, originally a resident of Agra, was posted at Roravar police station and had been living alone in the rented accommodation where the incident occurred.
Unanswered Questions and Ongoing Probe
While the circumstances point toward suicide, police officials emphasize that the exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining all possible angles to determine what led to this tragedy.
The case has highlighted the mental health challenges faced by police personnel, particularly those living away from their families. The police department has initiated a thorough investigation into the matter while making arrangements to hand over the body to Hemlata's family after the completion of post-mortem procedures.
