A violent clash erupted between two groups in Gurgaon's Sector 10 late Wednesday night, triggered by a financial dispute that escalated into a confrontation involving sticks, clubs, and a firearm. The incident left one man injured by a bullet and resulted in damage to two vehicles.
Victim Identified and Incident Details
The injured individual has been identified as Sikandar, a resident of Gadauli village. According to police reports, the altercation occurred near Alpine School, outside the office of Sikandar's friend, Ashish. The two parties had gathered there to resolve a monetary disagreement.
During the heated exchange, weapons such as sticks and clubs were used, and a bullet was fired, striking Sikandar in the leg. He was subsequently admitted to a hospital for medical treatment. Following the incident, members from both groups fled the scene, abandoning the damaged vehicles.
Origin of the Dispute
Police investigations have revealed that the conflict stemmed from a financial liability involving Arjun Sahu, a resident of Kheri Padampur village, and an individual named Akshay. The dispute was over a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh, reportedly linked to betting activities. Arjun was allegedly involved in facilitating bets, and Akshay had placed a bet through him. After losing the bet, a financial obligation arose, leading to the confrontation.
To settle the matter, Arjun, accompanied by approximately 10 associates, visited Ashish's office in Sector 10. Police stated that around a dozen people from each side were present when an argument over the money broke out, quickly escalating into a physical brawl.
Use of Firearm and Damage
During the clash, both groups allegedly damaged each other's vehicles. Police confirmed that a young man accompanying Arjun fired a shot from his licensed revolver during the altercation. The bullet hit Sikandar in the leg, causing the injury.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from the Sector 10 police station arrived at the scene and took custody of the two damaged vehicles. The incident occurred near the Sector 10 crime branch office. Crime Branch and forensic teams were also summoned to examine the scene and collect evidence.
Investigation and Evidence
Police have seized CCTV footage from a nearby house that captured the entire sequence of events. The footage is being analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that the dispute was rooted in betting money, with Arjun allegedly facilitating betting activities.
No arrests have been made so far. Police have registered a case of attempt to murder at the Sector 10 police station. The matter is under investigation, and further action will be taken based on the probe's findings.
