Prayagraj: An FIR has been registered against mafia Ganesh Yadav at Jhunsi police station for allegedly providing false information about his licensed weapon. Station officer Mahesh Mishra stated that when a police team visited Yadav’s residence in the Havelia area on May 27 to verify the status of his licensed rifle, he claimed that his non-prohibited bore (NPB) rifle was missing since 2016.
High Court Directive Led to Inspection
The inspection was carried out following a directive from the High Court to verify the credentials and status of weapons held by mafias and known criminals. Police officials noted that Yadav did not inform authorities about the alleged loss or theft of his licensed weapon, which raised suspicion.
Legal Action Taken
An FIR has been lodged under Sections 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 212 (furnishing false information) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the missing weapon and the veracity of Yadav’s claims.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to monitor and regulate firearms in the possession of individuals with criminal backgrounds, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and public safety.
