Police in Rajasthan's Bikaner district have taken formal action following allegations of unlawful religious conversion activities in a village. An FIR has been registered against three individuals based on a complaint filed by activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
VHP Alleges Conversion Under Guise of Medical Help
The case stems from allegations made this Thursday by VHP members. They claimed that illegal religious conversion was actively underway in a village falling under the Shri Dungargarh police station area. According to the complainant, the issue had been reported to authorities multiple times before, but no substantial action was initiated previously.
The VHP team stated they arrived at the village around 6 am after receiving specific information. The tip-off suggested that villagers were being summoned to a particular house under the pretext of curing illnesses. The activists alleged that once people gathered, pressure was applied on them to change their religion.
Police Action Under New Anti-Conversion Law
Station House Officer (SHO) of Shri Dungargarh, Jitendra Kumar, confirmed the legal step to the Times of India. He stated that the First Information Report was filed under the recently enacted Rajasthan Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act. This underscores the seriousness with which the new state law is being implemented.
A police officer involved in the case provided further details on the scene that was encountered. "There were 31 persons gathered at a place where some people alleged that others offered to cure illness and allegedly lured them to convert," the officer said. He emphasized that the probe is currently ongoing to verify and corroborate these specific allegations.

The police have confirmed that an investigation is actively underway to determine the facts of the case.
