In a swift operation, the Jalandhar police have arrested five individuals in connection with a robbery that took place in a village under the jurisdiction of the Phillaur police station. The arrests were made late Tuesday night, following a thorough investigation by a special team formed to crack the case.
Details of the Robbery
The incident occurred on Monday when a group of armed men entered the house of a resident in the village. They threatened the family at gunpoint and decamped with cash and jewelry worth several lakhs. The victims immediately lodged a complaint with the police, who registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Police Investigation
Upon receiving the complaint, the police formed a special team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Phillaur. The team analyzed CCTV footage from the area and gathered intelligence from local informants. Within 24 hours, they were able to identify and apprehend the suspects from different locations in and around Jalandhar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jaswant Singh, Manpreet Singh, and a minor. All are residents of nearby villages. The police have recovered most of the stolen items, including cash and jewelry, from their possession.
Legal Proceedings
The accused have been produced before a local court, which has remanded them to police custody for further interrogation. The police are investigating whether the gang is involved in other similar crimes in the region. The minor has been sent to a juvenile home.
