Five Arrested in Drug Busts, Two Held for Snatching

Phagwara: In a series of police operations, the Mehatpur police have arrested three individuals on charges of selling heroin. According to SHO Aman Saini, eight grams of heroin were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Kuldeep and Gurpreet Singh, residents of Dhaliwal village, and Raja Singh from Chak Vendal village in Nakodar.

Additional Drug Arrests

The Shahkot police apprehended Som Nath, alias Soma, of Saidpur Jhirri village, with 3.93 grams of heroin. Meanwhile, the Nakodar police arrested Aniket of Dhaliwal village, from whom 40 intoxicating tablets were seized.

Road Accident Case

In a separate incident, the Bilga police have booked a motorcyclist for causing death by negligence. The accused, identified as Shiv Shankar, a native of Bihar currently residing in Nagra village, was charged after a complaint by Harpal Chand of Begampura village. The complainant stated that the accused was driving his two-wheeler recklessly and at high speed, colliding with his brother Ravidar Kamar's motorcycle, resulting in his death on the spot.

Snatching Incident

The Shahkot police have also arrested two miscreants on charges of snatching cash. The accused have been identified as Amardeep, alias Chinnu, of Basant Colony, Lohian Khas, and Joban Preet Singh of Rampur Jagir in Kapurthala, currently living in Mannak village. According to a complaint filed by Gurdev Singh, a resident of Nangal Ambian village, the accused waylaid him on June 6, attacked him, and snatched Rs 5,000, a smartphone, and other items.
