RANCHI: Five individuals, including four relatives of the victim, have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Jharkhand's Koderma district, stemming from a dispute over construction work on contested land, as reported by news agency PTI.
Incident Details
The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday night in Chitarpur village, which falls under the Koderma Police Station limits. The victim, identified as Rajkumar Yadav, was allegedly assaulted with a spade and a sharp-edged weapon during an argument linked to construction activities on the disputed property.
Legal Proceedings
Following a complaint lodged by Yadav's wife, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against 12 individuals on Thursday. Among the five arrested accused are an elderly couple, their son, and grandson. Investigators believe these individuals played a pivotal role in the killing.
The victim's parents and daughter also sustained injuries during the clash and received medical treatment for their wounds. Police have indicated that the dispute is rooted in a long-standing conflict over land between Yadav's family and his uncle's family, a feud that had persisted for the past eight years.
Investigation Progress
During the investigation, law enforcement officers recovered the suspected murder weapons, blood-stained clothing, and two mobile phones from the accused. The case remains under active investigation, with authorities continuing to gather evidence and question witnesses.
