Police in the Kathala region have made significant progress in cracking down on theft-related crimes, arresting five individuals in separate incidents. The arrests come as part of a broader effort to curb property crimes and ensure public safety.
Details of the Arrests
According to official sources, the first arrest involved a suspect identified as Ravi Kumar, who was apprehended for allegedly stealing cash and gold jewelry from a residence in the Model Town area. The police recovered stolen items worth approximately Rs 2 lakh from his possession.
In a second incident, two suspects, identified as Amanpreet Singh and Gurpreet Singh, were arrested for their involvement in a series of chain snatchings. The duo was caught after a brief chase near the bus stand, and stolen mobile phones and cash were recovered.
Further Arrests
The third case led to the arrest of two more individuals, Mohan Lal and Suresh Kumar, who were found in possession of stolen motorcycle parts. The police suspect they are part of a larger gang involved in vehicle theft. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the network.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kathala, Rajesh Kumar, stated, "We have intensified patrolling and surveillance in theft-prone areas. These arrests will send a strong message to criminals. We urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity."

Local residents have welcomed the police action. "We feel safer now that these criminals are behind bars. The police have done a commendable job," said a resident of Model Town.
The police have registered cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are further interrogating the accused to uncover any links to other unsolved thefts. The recovered items will be returned to their rightful owners after legal procedures.
