The Chandigarh Police have apprehended five juveniles in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Suraj, who was fatally attacked with sharp-edged weapons in Daria village. According to police sources, the accused harbored an old grudge against the victim, which led to the violent incident.
Details of the Incident
The altercation occurred a few days prior to the murder, as both parties were involved in a scuffle. On the day of the crime, the juveniles attacked Suraj in the Daria market area. They struck him repeatedly with sharp-edged weapons, causing excessive blood loss. Suraj collapsed on the road and succumbed to his injuries. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Police Investigation
Following the incident, the police launched an investigation and identified the accused through CCTV camera footage. The juveniles were taken into custody and interrogated. During questioning, they claimed that they had no intention of killing Suraj. However, the severity of the attack led to his death.
The accused were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which ordered their detention at the juvenile home in Sector 25, Chandigarh. The police have also seized the weapons used in the murder as evidence.
