Five Minors Held for Murder of Criminal Mentor in Delhi's Sabzi Mandi
Five minors apprehended for murder in Delhi's Sabzi Mandi

In a shocking incident from the national capital, five minors have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of a man at northwest Delhi's Sabzi Mandi railway station. The crime reportedly stemmed from a dispute over sharing money earned from petty criminal activities.

The Grisly Discovery on the Railway Tracks

Police received a PCR call at 3:16 am on Saturday alerting them to a dead body found on a railway track near WPIA jhuggis and railway fatak number four. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his late twenties, bearing severe sharp injuries. The victim had wounds on his face, neck, and throat, and his face was found mutilated.

The deceased was later identified as Monu, also known as Crossing, a resident of CSA Colony in WPIA Ashok Vihar. Police records revealed Monu was a registered Bad Character (BC) at the Ashok Vihar police station and had seven prior involvements in heinous offences.

Investigation Leads to Juvenile Apprehension

A case was registered under section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Sabji Mandi Railway police station. Detailing the investigative process, DCP (northwest) Bhisham Singh stated that the team analysed digital footprints, scanned CCTV footage from vantage points, and gathered field intelligence alongside ground verification.

This meticulous work led to the identification of five suspects, all determined to be minors. Their ages ranged from 15 to 18 years. Following raids, all five were successfully apprehended by the police.

Motive: A Fallout Over Crime Proceeds

During interrogation, the juveniles disclosed a troubling dynamic with the victim. They told police that Monu used to involve them in petty crimes and would later extort money from them by threatening serious consequences.

The fatal incident occurred after a quarrel broke out between Monu and the group. The argument centred on past issues, including the distribution of proceeds from their criminal acts. As the altercation escalated, the minors allegedly assaulted Monu and then killed him using a knife and a screwdriver on the railway track itself.

The case highlights a grim nexus of juvenile delinquency and exploitation by established criminals in the city. The police investigation is ongoing to uncover further details surrounding the criminal network and the events leading to the murder.
