Five More Accused Arrested in Jamshedpur Kidnapping Case, Key Associate of Mastermind Apprehended
In a significant development in the Kairav Gandhi abduction case, police have arrested another five accused, including a key associate of the absconding mastermind, from different locations across the country over the past two days. SSP Piyush Kumar Pandey announced the arrests on Saturday, marking a crucial step in the ongoing investigation.
Details of the Arrests and Kidnapping Incident
The arrests include the key associate of the gang's kingpin, Gurdit Singh Shera, who was apprehended from Kolkata. Other accused, Manpreet Singh Shera and Amrinder Singh alias Kartar Singh, were arrested from Ludhiana, while Santosh Kumar was nabbed from Ghaziabad, and Rajkaran Yadav from Sheikhupura in Bihar. These individuals were part of the kidnappers' group led by the absconding kingpin and were responsible for conducting reconnaissance and executing the kidnapping by posing as police personnel. According to SSP Pandey, they had been following Kairav Gandhi for the past six months prior to the abduction.
Kairav Gandhi, the 24-year-old son of Bistupur-based industrialist Devan Chandra Gandhi, was kidnapped from Jamshedpur on January 13 and was later rescued from Barhi in Hazaribag on January 27. The police have been actively pursuing the case, leading to these recent arrests.
Connection to Bihar Gang and Investigation Progress
SSP Pandey revealed that the absconding gang leader had collaborated with a kidnappers' gang from Bihar to plot Kairav's abduction. After Kairav was transported to Gaya Ji in Bihar, a separate gang from Bihar took over his custody. Six members of this Bihar gang were arrested earlier between January 27 and January 29 from Patna, Gaya Ji, and Nalanda districts. Interestingly, the members of the two gangs are not familiar with each other; they only followed orders from their respective bosses and executed their assigned roles in the kidnapping.
The police are now intensifying their search for the absconding accused and will interrogate the newly arrested individuals to gather more information. The motive behind the abduction is still being ascertained as part of the ongoing investigation.
