In a dramatic operation in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra district, police arrested a drug trafficker following a high-speed car chase and exchange of gunfire. The incident unfolded when a police patrol team attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle. Instead of complying, the driver sped away, leading the officers on a chase through the rural terrain.

Chase and Gunfight

During the pursuit, the suspect fired at the police, who retaliated. The exchange of gunfire lasted for several minutes before the vehicle was forced to stop. The driver, identified as a known drug trafficker, was apprehended without injury. Police recovered a firearm and ammunition from his possession.

Recovery of Narcotics

A thorough search of the vehicle revealed a substantial haul of narcotics. Officers found 3 kilograms of opium and 225 kilograms of poppy husk hidden in specially designed compartments. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 49 lakh. Police believe the contraband was intended for distribution in nearby states.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities are now investigating the suspect's network and possible links to larger drug syndicates operating in the region.
