Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police have registered a criminal case against Bonthu Sridevi, wife of former Hyderabad mayor Bonthu Rammohan, following a complaint by a private hostel operator alleging that she and her associates assaulted workers at his women's PG hostel in Ameerpet. A counter-complaint was also booked against hostel workers based on allegations from the opposite side that one of their group members was assaulted.
Details of the Complaint
According to police, the complainant, D Veera Hanuman, operates the Asian PG for Girls hostel in Ameerpet from a building owned by J Boyamma, mother of Bonthu Sridevi. Hanuman alleged that Sridevi had been entering the hostel premises with her followers over the past three days and threatening staff members. He further alleged that around 7 pm on Wednesday, Sridevi and nearly 30 persons forcibly entered the hostel and attacked staff members Rajyalakshmi, Sirisha, and Aparna. The complaint also claimed that two security personnel were assaulted, mobile phones of hostel workers were snatched, and a gold chain belonging to one of them was forcibly taken away.
Counter-Complaint Filed
In the counter-complaint, B Munni, a member of the other group, alleged that she was assaulted by Aparna and Rajyalakshmi at the hostel. Punjagutta inspector M Rama Krishna stated, “We have registered two assault cases. The first case was booked against Sridevi and her mother Boyamma, while the second case was registered against Aparna and Rajyalakshmi under relevant sections of the BNS on Wednesday.”
The police are investigating both complaints and have yet to make any arrests. The incident has sparked tension in the area, with both sides presenting their versions of the events.
