Former NSG Commando Shot Dead in Gurugram Revenge Killing
Former NSG Commando Shot Dead in Gurugram

A former National Security Guard (NSG) commando was shot dead in Gurugram late Tuesday night in what police believe is a revenge killing. The deceased, identified as 45-year-old Ramesh Yadav, was a resident of Sector 56 and had served in the elite counter-terrorism unit for over a decade before retiring two years ago.

Incident Details

The attack took place around 10:30 PM when Yadav was returning home from a nearby market. Two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle intercepted him near his residence and fired multiple shots at close range. Yadav was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Police have registered a case of murder and are investigating the possibility of a revenge attack linked to his past service.

Police Investigation

Gurugram Police Commissioner K.K. Rao stated that preliminary investigations suggest the murder was premeditated. “We are probing all angles, including personal enmity and professional rivalry. The victim had received threats in the past due to his involvement in high-profile operations,” Rao said. A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed to track down the suspects, who are believed to have fled towards Rajasthan.

Forensic teams have collected evidence from the crime scene, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analyzed. Police have also questioned Yadav’s family and colleagues to gather more information about any potential threats.

Background of the Victim

Ramesh Yadav was a decorated NSG commando who participated in several critical operations, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks and the 2016 Pathankot airbase strike. He was known for his bravery and was awarded the Shaurya Chakra for his role in neutralizing terrorists during a hostage crisis in 2014. After retiring, he worked as a security consultant for a private firm in Gurugram.

Neighbors described Yadav as a friendly and helpful person. “He was always ready to assist anyone in need. It is shocking that such a brave man met such a tragic end,” said a neighbor, Sunita Sharma.

Revenge Killing Theory

Police sources indicate that the murder may be linked to a criminal gang that Yadav had encountered during his service. In 2018, Yadav had been instrumental in the arrest of a notorious gangster, who was later killed in a police encounter. The gang’s associates had allegedly threatened Yadav multiple times. “We are looking into this lead seriously,” said a senior police officer.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and among former NSG personnel. The NSG Association has condemned the killing and demanded swift justice. “We urge the government to ensure the culprits are brought to book,” said a spokesperson.

Meanwhile, security has been increased in the area, and police are conducting raids in nearby states to apprehend the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
