Four Arrested for Attack Near Temple in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Four youths were arrested by Thumba police on Tuesday for allegedly creating a terror-like situation in public using deadly weapons and brutally assaulting a youth near a temple on the city outskirts.

Incident Details

The incident took place near Sree Bhagavathi Temple at Attipra, Kuzhivila, Nalanchira around 6:30 pm on Sunday. According to police, the accused arrived as a team armed with weapons, engaged in a verbal altercation with locals, and used abusive language. When a young man questioned them, they attacked him with an iron rod, striking him on the head. He was also physically assaulted. The accused reportedly brandished weapons, including a sword and other arms.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

The arrested persons have been identified as Anas N, 21, of Kulathoor; Afsal, 21, of Pangappara; Adwaith, 20, of Pangappara; and Abubacker Siddique, 19, of Sreekaryam. Police said efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other accused believed to be involved in the incident. The arrested were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.

Victim's Condition and Police Action

The injured youth is currently undergoing treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable. Police have strengthened patrols in the area to prevent further disturbances.
