Four Arrested for Dhanbad Murder Over Elopement Dispute

Dhanbad: Four persons were arrested on Thursday for killing a 24-year-old man on March 20, police said on Friday. Rohit Kumar, a resident of Sahu Gali under Dhanbad police station area, was found murdered with his throat slit.

Case Registered

A case was registered at Dhanbad police station based on the statement of the deceased's sister, Ritu Kumari. The accused have been identified as Jeetu Yadav, Tarun Yadav, Mahesh Dhibar and Bhuneshwar Hadi.

Confession and Motive

During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime. According to them, around two months ago, a man named Prem had allegedly eloped with the minor daughter of the main accused, Jeetu Yadav. Rohit Kumar was reportedly a friend of Prem. Unable to identify and trace Prem, Jeetu, driven by anger, conspired with his associates and killed Rohit.

Recovery of Evidence

Police have also recovered the iron weapon used in the murder, two motorcycles, the victim's mobile phone, and the clothes worn during the crime. Addressing the media on Friday, City SP Ritwik Srivastava lauded the efforts of Dhanbad police station officer in-charge Manoj Pandey and his team for cracking the case so swiftly.
