Four Arrested, Minor Detained for Extortion in Jharkhand

Ranchi: Four men were arrested and a minor was detained for allegedly extorting money in various parts of the state, the police said on Friday. The arrested individuals were identified as Kajal Kumar Mandal, Anand Kumar, Vicky Kumar, and Shakib Ansari. They were apprehended from an apartment under the Gonda police station limits late on Thursday.

Details of the Arrest

Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan stated that the accused were arrested from Rock View Apartment in Dhawan Nagar under the Gonda police station during a raid. The five accused were involved in creating virtual phone numbers and demanding money from businessmen in Ramgarh and Hazaribag districts, using the names of various gangs, including the Rahul Singh and Rahul Dubey gangs. Following a tip-off, the raid was conducted, and they were arrested from a flat in the apartment. During interrogation, they admitted to creating fake bank accounts using fake documents to extort money, Ranjan added.

Recovered Items

Police recovered 50 bank passbooks, 26 debit cards, 13 mobile phones, eight cheque books, and three Aadhaar cards from the gang's possession during the raid. The investigation is ongoing to trace other possible victims and associates involved in the extortion racket.
