Coimbatore: Four individuals were booked on Saturday for trespassing into a college student's room, assaulting him, and robbing him of cash and valuables through extortion and intimidation on Friday night.

Accused Identified

Kuniyamuthur police have identified the accused as Rizwan, Sadir, Abush, and Jeganath.

Incident Details

According to police, the complainant, S Kathir, aged 20, from Oddanchatram in Dindigul district, is currently pursuing his third year in BTech (Information Technology) at a private college in the city. On Friday evening, while visiting his friend Suresh at his room in Perumalsamy Nagar near Kuniyamuthur, the four accused, who were previously known to him, forcibly entered the premises.

“They verbally abused him and repeatedly assaulted him with their hands. They also brandished a knife, threatened him, and demanded money. Terrified by the threats, Kathir transferred Rs 47,000 from his bank account to the accused via an online transaction,” said a police officer. He added that before fleeing the spot, the assailants also forcibly took a silver chain and a mobile phone from him.

Investigation Underway

Kathir filed a complaint with Kuniyamuthur police, who registered a case and are investigating to trace the accused.
