A social media post triggered a violent incident in Surat's Amroli area, resulting in two cross-complaints. Four individuals, including the parents of a 17-year-old girl, were booked for allegedly assaulting a 20-year-old man, who in turn was accused of molesting the minor.
Assault Over Instagram Post
The Amroli police registered a case against four persons for attacking the man at his home on Wednesday. The accused confronted him over a photograph of the minor girl that he had posted on Instagram. According to the FIR filed by the victim's mother, she was at home with her son when the four arrived and began questioning him about the post. The accused allegedly started hitting the young man, repeatedly kicking and punching him.
During the assault, the woman called the police. Officers arrived at the scene and took all four accused to the police station. Based on her complaint, police registered an offence against them.
Cross-Complaint Under POCSO
Police also filed a cross-complaint against the 20-year-old under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. According to this complaint, the girl alleged that the man had molested her on Monday afternoon near his residence. The accused man works as a videographer.
Police have initiated an investigation into both cases. The incident highlights the dangers of social media disputes escalating into physical violence and legal complications.
