Tragic Bus Accident Claims Four Lives, Leaves Nineteen Injured in Nizamabad

A devastating road accident occurred in the early hours of Friday on National Highway 44 in Nizamabad district, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to nineteen others. The incident involved a private travel bus that veered off the road and overturned near the Brahmangari Temple on the outskirts of Gannaram village.

Details of the Fatal Incident

The accident took place at approximately 2:20 AM when the bus, operated by Khurana Travels, was en route from Hyderabad to Akola in Maharashtra. According to preliminary reports and statements from injured passengers, the driver was operating the vehicle at high speed in a rash and negligent manner.

"The bus first rammed into a caution board on the left side of the road, then veered off the road, hit a large rock and fell on its right," recounted Mygani Laxman (45), one of the injured passengers who filed a police complaint. Laxman, a laborer from Chandai village in Washim district, Maharashtra, had traveled to Hyderabad with his family for work approximately fifteen days prior to the accident.

Victims Identified

The deceased have been identified as:

  • Manjusha Mygani (30), wife of Laxman
  • Rushi Mygani (7), their son
  • Rahul (25), the bus co-driver from Maharashtra
  • Abbas (45), a watch repairer from Bengaluru

Laxman reported that his wife, son, and co-driver Rahul died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Abbas succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the government hospital in Nizamabad.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Indalwai Sub-Inspector G Sandeep confirmed that the remaining eighteen injured passengers, including Laxman, along with the surviving driver Sanjay (also from Maharashtra), were rushed to two hospitals in Nizamabad for immediate medical attention. "Currently, ten of the injured are undergoing treatment in the hospitals, and their condition is stable," stated the SI.

Police suspect that driver Sanjay might have dozed off while operating the vehicle, leading to the tragic accident. Based on Laxman's complaint, authorities have registered a case against Sanjay under sections 106(1) (causing death due to rash or negligent act) and 125(a) (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Background of the Affected Family

Mygani Laxman had come to Hyderabad with his wife Manjusha and their seven-year-old son Rushi for labor work. After completing their work, the family booked two seats on the Khurana Travels bus to return to their native village. They boarded the bus at 10 PM in Bowenpally, Hyderabad, for what was supposed to be a routine journey home.

The tragic turn of events has left the family devastated and raised serious questions about road safety protocols and driver accountability on long-distance travel routes. The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the exact circumstances that led to this preventable tragedy.
