Tragic Bus Accident Claims Four Lives on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway

A devastating road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the tragic deaths of four individuals, including a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper, and left one woman injured on Tuesday. Sequence of the Fatal Collision

According to police reports, the accident occurred when a bus bound for Udhampur was allegedly speeding and rear-ended a motorbike near the Jakhani Sharda Mata stop. The impact was so severe that both the biker and the pillion rider succumbed to their injuries on the spot. In a horrifying turn of events, moments later, the out-of-control bus crashed into two mechanics who were engaged in repairing a load carrier vehicle parked along the roadside, leading to their immediate deaths.

Victims Identified and Injured Woman Hospitalized

Police have identified three of the deceased victims. Mukesh Prajapati, hailing from Kishtwar, was a brave trooper posted with the CRPF’s 52 Battalion. Sanjeev Kumar, aged 42, was a resident of Udhampur, and Rayesh Ahmed, 28, was from Budgam. The identity of the fourth victim remains unknown at this time, adding to the sorrow of the tragedy.

The injured woman, Bamlesha Devi, 37, from Chenani, sustained serious injuries in the crash and was promptly rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Her condition is being closely monitored by healthcare professionals.

Post-Mortem and Police Investigation Initiated

Following the accident, the bodies of the deceased were shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur for post-mortem examinations to determine the exact causes of death.
