Four Dead in Mathura Car Crash After Vehicle Plunges into Canal

In a devastating incident near Mathura, four passengers lost their lives after their car fell into a canal late Wednesday night. The accident occurred close to the Nahla Deviya bridge, with police confirming the fatalities and launching an investigation into the circumstances.

Details of the Tragic Accident

According to officials, the car was en route from Mahmoodpur to Deeg when the driver allegedly lost control at a sharp turn. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat stated, "There is a sharp bend on the road. The driver possibly failed to negotiate the turn at high speed and hit a structure ahead." This initial impact caused the vehicle to overturn before plunging into a canal approximately six meters wide.

Witnesses reported that the car flipped again upon hitting the water, exacerbating the situation. Two local residents quickly rushed to the scene and managed to pull the car out of the canal. Despite their efforts, all occupants were found deceased and could not be saved. Police were notified shortly after the incident and arrived to secure the area.

Victims Identified and Investigation Underway

The deceased have been identified as three brothers: Rahul (23), Amit (23), and Mohit (21), all residents of Baldevgarh under the Mahavan police station limits. The fourth victim, a friend of the trio also in his twenties, remains unidentified at this time. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence.

Authorities are examining the crash site for clues, focusing on factors such as vehicle speed, road conditions, and potential mechanical failures. This tragedy highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in the region, particularly on routes with hazardous turns.

Community Response and Safety Concerns

The local community has expressed shock and grief over the incident, with many calling for improved road infrastructure and stricter enforcement of speed limits. Similar accidents in the past have raised alarms about the need for better signage and barriers near dangerous bends.

Police have urged drivers to exercise caution, especially at night and on unfamiliar roads, to prevent such mishaps. As the investigation continues, officials aim to provide closure to the families affected by this heartbreaking event.
