Tragic Road Accidents Claim Four Lives in Bihar Districts
In a devastating series of events, four individuals lost their lives while two others sustained severe injuries in two separate road accidents reported within a 12-hour timeframe in the Rohtas and Kaimur districts of Bihar. The incidents have highlighted critical concerns regarding road safety and wildlife hazards in the region.
Fatal Collision on Dehri-Bikramganj Road
The first tragedy unfolded on Wednesday morning in Rohtas district. Near Bharkudiya village on the Dehri-Bikramganj road (State Highway 15), within the jurisdiction of the Darihat police station, a speeding SUV collided with a motorcycle carrying three youths. The victims were returning to their village from Darihat when the SUV, approaching from the Dehri side, rammed into their vehicle with tremendous force.
The impact was catastrophic. One rider, identified as 30-year-old Vikas Kumar, became trapped alongside the motorcycle and was dragged for approximately 50 meters, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. Another individual, Rustam Ansari, later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Sasaram Sadar Hospital. The third victim, Nageshwar Paswan, also known as Naga, remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing intensive medical care.
Police authorities swiftly responded to the accident site, seizing the involved vehicle and arranging for the bodies to be sent for postmortem examination. The driver of the SUV fled the location following the collision. Station House Officer Raviranjan Priyadarshi confirmed that the condition of the injured individual remains grave and unstable.
Father and Son Killed in Autorickshaw Overturn
In a separate and equally heartbreaking incident in Kaimur district, a man and his son lost their lives late Tuesday night. The accident occurred near Jogiya Veer Baba, under the Bhagwanpur police station area, when the autorickshaw they were traveling in overturned after colliding with a nilgai (blue bull) that suddenly crossed the road.
The deceased have been identified as Jayprakash Ram and his father Idal Ram, both residents of Majhiaon village. The tragic event took place around 12:30 AM as they were returning home to Majhiaon from Khareda village in the Rampur block after visiting relatives.
According to preliminary reports, near Netpur Siwan under the Jaitpur Kala Panchayat, the nilgai unexpectedly darted onto the roadway, leading to a direct collision with the autorickshaw. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to overturn, resulting in the instantaneous deaths of both father and son at the spot. A third, unidentified passenger sustained injuries in this accident.
Law enforcement officials, led by Station House Officer Chandrashekhar Sharma, promptly arrived at the scene. They took custody of the bodies and transported them to Sadar Hospital Bhabha for autopsy procedures. Following the necessary formalities, the bodies were subsequently handed over to the grieving family members.
These consecutive tragedies underscore the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures, stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, and effective wildlife management strategies to prevent such fatal incidents in the future. The local communities are in mourning as they grapple with the sudden loss of lives in these preventable accidents.
