In a recent development, three cases of fraud in granting permission for the Bhasma aarti at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain have come to light. The temple management committee administrator discovered these irregularities during an investigation conducted on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
Excess Charges Uncovered
The investigation revealed that permissions were granted after charging amounts several times higher than the prescribed rates from three devotees. This blatant overcharging has raised serious concerns about the management of the temple's rituals.
Police Case Registered
Dilip Bamniya, the temple's security in-charge, registered a case with the Mahakal police station against two individuals identified as Harshit Jain and Rajat Sharma. According to Mahakal police station in-charge Gagan Badal, the accused allegedly issued three permissions for the Bhasma aarti at inflated rates, exploiting the faith of devotees.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are examining the records to determine the full extent of the fraud. Further actions will be taken based on the findings.
