Fuel conservation drive reduced to one-day photo-op: advocate

Lucknow: Senior advocate Satyendra Kumar Pandey on Friday criticized the government's fuel conservation campaign, stating that it has been reduced to a mere one-day photo-op and social media exercise. He emphasized that sustained efforts are essential for the success of such drives.

One-day show, no lasting change

Pandey remarked that after the Prime Minister's appeal, politicians and officials took to the streets on bicycles for just a single day, primarily to impress their superiors and the Prime Minister. However, on other days, the same individuals are frequently seen using convoys and government vehicles.

“If the government is genuinely serious about environmental protection and fuel conservation, the campaign should not be used merely as a publicity tool. As long as the country continues to struggle with pollution, climate change, and fuel shortages, such thinking needs to be adopted consistently,” Pandey asserted.

Public sees through the act

He further noted that the public now understands that meaningful change will not come through a one-day bicycle ride, but through honest policies and sustained efforts. The advocate called for a shift from symbolic gestures to genuine, long-term initiatives.
