A 27-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by two men in her house in Bihar's Gopalganj district while she was alone. The accused reportedly entered the premises by jumping over the boundary wall and also filmed the heinous crime. Police acted swiftly and arrested the two accused on Tuesday.
Incident Details
According to the complaint filed by the woman, her mother and younger brother went to her sister's house on Monday morning, leaving her alone at home. The two accused, residents of the same locality, learned about this and spent the day observing her house. They allegedly planned the crime and left their homes after dinner around 8 pm. Around 11 pm, they scaled the boundary wall and committed the crime. The woman cried for help, but no one came to her rescue.
Victim's Background
The woman, who was scheduled to get married in November, lives with her mother and 10-year-old brother. Her father is working abroad. After the assault, the accused threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone before fleeing.
Police Action
The woman reached the police station early Tuesday morning and lodged a complaint. Acting swiftly on her statement, the police arrested two accused—Sarfaraz Ali and Hussain Mohammad—from their homes. A named First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the two men. During interrogation, both the accused confessed to committing the crime.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO)-II Rajesh Kumar said the police have taken prompt action and will push for a speedy trial to ensure strict punishment for the accused. The medical examination of the victim was also conducted, and her clothes have been preserved for forensic examination. The police are investigating whether the accused have any prior criminal records and if they were involved in similar incidents earlier.
The incident has sparked outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict action against the perpetrators. Local women's groups have also condemned the crime and called for enhanced security measures. The police have assured the public that they are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and have increased patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.
