Fugitive Gangster Sachin Golu Escapes India After Mistaken-Identity Killing in Delhi
In a dramatic development that has exposed significant security lapses, fugitive gangster Sachin Golu, a prime suspect in the high-profile mistaken-identity killing of a Delhi businessman, has successfully fled India and is now believed to be residing in Dubai. Central agency sources have revealed that Golu utilized forged documents to cross into Nepal before making his way to Thailand and eventually to the United Arab Emirates.
The Brutal 2024 Murder and Case of Mistaken Identity
The Delhi Police had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Sachin Golu following his involvement in the shocking murder of businessman Sunil Jain in December 2024. Golu, along with his associate Naveen Kasana, ambushed Jain as he returned home from his morning walk near the Yamuna Sports Complex in the Farsh Bazar area. The assailants fired approximately half a dozen bullets at the unsuspecting victim, who was traveling on his two-wheeler at the time of the attack.
Investigations conducted after the murder revealed a startling twist: Sunil Jain was not the intended target. Police determined that the shooting resulted from a case of mistaken identity, with the perpetrators actually aiming for another individual amid ongoing gang rivalries involving Golu's criminal network.
International Manhunt and Elaborate Escape Route
According to a senior Delhi Police officer familiar with the investigation, "He crossed into Nepal using forged documents and from Nepal, he first went to Thailand and then to Dubai. He was spotted in Dubai and the Delhi Police are now coordinating with central agencies to locate him and get him back."
For approximately 14 months following the murder, Golu managed to evade capture through a combination of border-hopping under assumed identities and strategic movements within India itself. Despite being spotted on multiple occasions in Delhi, including in Northeast Delhi's Jaffrabad area in February 2025, the gangster consistently managed to escape before police could apprehend him.
Criminal History and Police Complication
Sachin Golu carries an extensive criminal record with 11 registered cases against him, including charges of:
- House theft
- Attempt to murder
- Violations under the Arms Act
The gangster has been arrested three times by Delhi's Special Cell and several additional times by officers from the Welcome and Bhajanpura police stations in Northeast Delhi. In a troubling development that highlights corruption within law enforcement, Delhi Police Sub-Inspector Sukhbir was arrested in February 2025 for allegedly harboring both Kasana and Golu after the murder and providing them with financial assistance.
Current Investigation Status and International Coordination
Authorities are now engaged in an international manhunt to locate and extradite Sachin Golu back to India to face justice. The Delhi Police are working closely with central investigative agencies and are expected to initiate formal diplomatic channels with authorities in Dubai to secure the fugitive's return.
This case has raised serious questions about border security and document verification processes, particularly regarding how a wanted criminal with an active LOC managed to obtain forged travel documents and successfully exit the country despite heightened surveillance following a high-profile murder case.
