A tragic accident occurred in the Dhari block of Nainital district, Uttarakhand, on Monday when a passenger vehicle veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Dudli. The incident resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left four others injured.
Details of the Incident
The vehicle was traveling from Haldwani to Dudli village with six occupants, including the driver. Upon receiving an alert through the Dial 112 emergency system, a police team immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.
Rescue Efforts
Police personnel, led by Mukteshwar Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Hariram, worked alongside local residents to extricate all victims from the wreckage. The injured were swiftly transported to the Padampuri Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical attention.
Victims Identified
Doctors at the health center declared two individuals brought dead: Lata Devi (40) and Harish Chandra Belwal. The injured have been identified as driver Kamal Sharma (23), Dinesh Chandra (48), Neha Belwal (17), and Subhash Belwal (13). All victims were residents of Dudli village.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on hilly roads, especially during adverse weather conditions.
