A tragic fire incident in Gaya district claimed the lives of a husband and wife on Tuesday evening, leaving their three children orphaned. The couple, identified as Pramod Sao and his wife Madhu Devi, were charred to death inside their residence located in Bitho village under the Chakand police station area.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The fire broke out late on Tuesday evening. According to preliminary investigations by the police, the blaze is believed to have originated from a power short circuit. Pramod Sao, who earned his livelihood by manufacturing disposable leaf plates, was reportedly working in a room at the time that was filled with bundles of finished plates and dry leaves—highly combustible materials. The police stated that the bundle of prepared plates kept in the room caught fire rapidly due to the electrical fault.
Children Escape Unharmed, Administration Steps In
In a stroke of fate, the couple's three children escaped the tragedy unhurt as they were present in another room of the house when the fire erupted. Following the incident, Chakand Station House Officer (SHO) Shivam Kumar conducted an inspection of the site. The bodies of the deceased were sent to the Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination.
SHO Shivam Kumar provided further details, stating that the Block Development Officer (BDO) also visited the spot to assess the situation. He confirmed that the deceased couple is survived by three children—two sons and a daughter. One of the children is an adult. The officer assured that the administration would provide compensation to the bereaved family as per the existing provisions.
