Ghaziabad DCP Suspends 10 Police Officers for Negligence

Ghaziabad: In a major disciplinary action, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (city) has suspended 10 police officers for failing to curb street crime and for negligence in performing their duties. The suspensions were ordered in connection with five separate cases, including incidents of chain snatching and dereliction of duty.

Chain Snatching Cases Lead to Suspensions

Sub-inspector Kamaldev Singh, the chowki in-charge of Lohia Nagar, along with sub-inspector Manish Verma, head constable Ajay Kumar, and constable Rohit Kumar—all posted at the Lohia Nagar police chowki under Sihani Gate police station—were suspended with immediate effect. The action came after they failed to prevent a chain-snatching incident on Monday. The officers were found negligent in discharging their responsibilities.

According to the police complaint, Lohia Nagar resident Arvind Nagar (41) reported that his wife Rashmi was walking outside their house around 7 am when two bike-borne assailants snatched a gold chain from her neck and fled. An FIR was registered under BNS Section 304 (snatching) the same day.

Second Incident in Govindpuram

In another case, head constable Malkhan Singh, deployed on Cheetah Mobile under Kavi Nagar police station jurisdiction, was suspended for negligence during a chain-snatching incident on May 16 in G Block, Govindpuram. The victim, Kalpana Sagar (30), filed a complaint stating that two men on a bike snatched a gold chain with a diamond pendant from her neck around 7:30 am while she was waiting outside Mandir Chauraha. She reported the incident via 112 at 7:46 am. CCTV footage captured the bike riders. The stolen chain weighed 10 grams with a diamond pendant, valued at Rs 2 lakh.

Negligence in File Management and Public Grievances

In the third case, sub-inspector (clerk) Harendra Singh and head constable Rajeev Kumar, both posted at the Police Lines office, were suspended for negligence in the proper management of files.

In the fourth case, sub-inspector Sonu Sharma and head constable Gajendra Singh from Vijay Nagar police station were suspended for failing to take timely action on a victim's application submitted during a public hearing.

Disobeying Orders

In the fifth case, sub-inspector Rahul Rathi, posted as chowki in-charge of Govindpuram (city zone), was suspended for disobeying an order from senior officers.

The DCP's decisive action underscores the commitment to accountability and public safety in Ghaziabad.
