In a decisive move to address persistent complaints regarding the illegal occupation of government land in Loni, Ghaziabad District Magistrate Ravindra Mander has established a joint committee comprising police and administrative officers. This initiative aims to crack down on encroachers and land mafia operations that have been plaguing the area, with the DM vowing that such activities will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Swift Action in Response to Public Grievances
The decision to form this committee was made during a public grievance meeting held at the collectorate on Monday. DM Mander highlighted a noticeable increase in complaints related to land encroachments, which have been consistently reported through public hearings and the Integrated Grievance Redressal System. Expressing his firm stance, Mander directed officials to respond promptly to these public concerns, emphasizing that strict measures will be implemented against those found guilty of illegal activities.
Composition and Mandate of the Joint Committee
The newly formed committee includes key officials such as the Additional District Magistrate (Land Acquisition), the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, the Loni Assistant Commissioner of Police, along with ACPs from Ankur Vihar and Wave City. This team has been tasked with taking immediate action on complaints, conducting thorough site inspections, and ensuring the time-bound resolution of land-related disputes. The DM underscored the administration's commitment to targeting habitual offenders, noting that in some instances, the same individuals repeatedly engage in illegal land occupation or harass small landholders through intimidation or force.
Legal Measures and Priority Resolution
To reinforce this crackdown, DM Mander announced that First Information Reports (FIRs) will be registered against repeat offenders, signaling a no-tolerance policy towards land mafia activities. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Deepak Singhanwal added that complaints of encroachment on government land will be addressed on a priority basis. He clarified that while such cases will be expedited, inquiries into personal land disputes will also be conducted, as these require hearing both sides to ensure fair and just outcomes.
This proactive step by the Ghaziabad administration reflects a broader effort to safeguard public land and protect citizens from the clutches of land mafia, aiming to restore order and justice in Loni and its surrounding areas.
