In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through the medical community, a 38-year-old paediatrician from Ghaziabad was brutally shot dead inside his private clinic in Nagina town, Bijnor district, on Thursday evening. Dr Rajkumar, originally hailing from the Nandgram area of Ghaziabad, had been operating his hospital, Shivalaya Health Care, on the Nagina–Dhampur road for the past three years. According to police reports, the tragedy unfolded when a man in his mid-20s entered the clinic under the guise of seeking medical consultation.
The attacker approached Dr Rajkumar with a blood test report, and as the doctor was examining the document, the man suddenly produced a firearm and fired at him. Dr Rajkumar collapsed into his chair, bleeding profusely, while the assailant hastily exited the clinic and vanished into the surrounding area.
Immediate Aftermath and Police Response
Hospital staff and local residents immediately rushed the critically injured doctor to the Nagina government hospital. However, medical professionals there declared him dead upon arrival, confirming the severity of the gunshot wounds.
Law enforcement officials, including Nagina Circle Officer Anjani Kumar Chaturvedi, swiftly arrived at the clinic after being alerted about the incident. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Prakash Kumar verified that the doctor had been shot dead and announced that multiple police teams had been mobilized to track down the perpetrator.
During their investigation, police discovered an abandoned motorcycle near the clinic, which is suspected to have been used by the attacker. Based on a formal complaint lodged by the doctor's sister, authorities have registered a case against an individual identified as Vikas Kumar, also known as Chhotu, who is a resident of Tibadi village. The charges have been filed under BNS Section 103, which pertains to culpable homicide.
