A tragic sequence of events unfolded in Ghaziabad on Sunday night, resulting in the deaths of a 48-year-old man and his elderly mother. The man, identified as Daulatram alias Rinku, was killed in a hit-and-run incident, and hours later, his 70-year-old mother, Suman Agrawal, succumbed to a heart attack after learning of her son's fate.
The Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident
The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Sunday near the New Railway Station in Ghaziabad. Daulatram, a local businessman and resident of Delhi's Nagloi, was returning from a relative's wedding at the Lions Club in the Kavinagar area. He was accompanied by his uncle, Bijendra Kansal.
After sending their families home earlier, the two men were walking from the venue to find transport when an unknown car driver hit them. The impact left Daulatram with serious injuries, while Bijendra sustained minor wounds. Locals immediately alerted the police, and both victims were rushed to a nearby private hospital. Tragically, doctors declared Daulatram dead upon arrival. Bijendra was treated for his injuries and discharged.
Police Investigation and Family's Double Tragedy
Assistant Commissioner of Police Suryabali Maurya confirmed the details and stated that while the family has not yet filed a formal complaint, the police have taken proactive steps. "We have formed two teams to investigate the case and are checking the CCTV cameras of nearby areas to trace the car," ACP Maurya said.
The tragedy deepened within hours. Upon receiving the devastating news, Daulatram's younger brother, Mukesh Kansal, left Nagloi for Ghaziabad with their mother, Suman Agrawal, in the car. During the journey, when Mukesh informed his mother about Daulatram's death, the 70-year-old woman suffered a severe heart attack. She passed away within minutes. The family was forced to turn the car around and return home with her body.
Final Rites and Ongoing Search
After a post-mortem examination, Daulatram's body was handed over to his grieving family. His son brought the body back to their Nagloi residence, where the last rites of the mother and son were performed together, marking a heartbreaking end to the family's ordeal.
The Ghaziabad Police continue their manhunt for the driver of the unknown vehicle who fled the scene. The investigation remains active, with authorities scrutinizing digital evidence from the area to identify and apprehend the responsible individual.
