Ghaziabad Man Found Dead in Drain with Bullet Wounds; Police Probe Double Life
In a shocking development in Ghaziabad, the body of a 32-year-old man, who had been missing since Thursday, was discovered in a drain in Chiranjeevi Vihar on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Jitendra Kumar, a resident of Bamheta village. Preliminary investigations revealed that he sustained three bullet injuries, pointing towards a brutal murder.
Police Investigation Uncovers Startling Details
An FIR was registered against unknown persons based on a complaint filed by his wife, Chital Chauhan. However, during the course of the investigation, police uncovered a startling fact: the victim had two wives, adding a complex layer to the case. According to officials, Jitendra's mobile phone was last traced to a location approximately 100 metres from the spot where his body was found, near a railway track. When police attempted to call the number, someone answered but switched off the phone before investigators could reach the area, raising suspicions of foul play.
Discovery of the Body and Initial Response
Kavi Nagar ACP Suryabali Maurya stated that police were alerted by a local resident about a body lying in the drain on Friday morning. "A team was immediately dispatched to the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem, and efforts were initiated to establish the identity of the deceased. We later contacted a woman, Chital Chauhan, 30, who identified the body as her husband Jitendra, a grocery shop owner in Bamheta village," he explained. Chauhan informed police that she had been married to Jitendra for 12 years and the couple has two children. The family resides above their grocery shop.
Timeline of Events and Police Suspicions
Chauhan reported that Jitendra left home on his two-wheeler on Thursday evening but did not return. When her calls went unanswered later that night, she approached the police. In a significant lead, police recovered Jitendra's two-wheeler near Diamond Flyover, about 500 metres from where the body was found. ACP Maurya elaborated on their suspicions: "We suspect that the accused lured the victim to the Diamond Flyover area and then took him near the railway line, where he was shot before the body was dumped in the drain. We are analysing call detail records and questioning family members to piece together the events."
Legal Action and Ongoing Efforts
A case has been registered under Section 103 (murder) at Kavi Nagar police station. "Five teams have been formed to trace the accused, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify any suspects or vehicles involved in the crime," Maurya added. The investigation is ongoing, with police focusing on the victim's personal relationships and financial dealings, given the revelation of his double life. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to solve this gruesome murder in Ghaziabad.
