Ghaziabad Man Allegedly Kills Wife and Friend in Jealous Rage, Son Witnesses Horrific Scene
A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a 38-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and a close friend after discovering their two-year affair. The incident occurred in Tronica City's Rampark Colony, with the couple's seven-year-old son witnessing the entire double homicide.
Dinner Invitation Turns Deadly: The Sequence of Events
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Rashid (38), invited his friend Faheem (32) to their home for dinner on Monday evening. The three individuals—Rashid, his wife Shabnam (36), and Faheem—shared a meal and smoked together before a heated argument erupted around midnight.
Police investigations reveal that Rashid retrieved a pistol from an almirah in their bedroom and first shot Faheem in the head at close range. He then turned the weapon toward his wife Shabnam, firing fatal shots. The couple's seven-year-old son, who had been watching television, entered the room upon hearing raised voices and witnessed the horrific shootings.
After committing the murders, Rashid reportedly told his son, "ab sab thik ho jayega" (now everything will be fine) before fleeing the scene. Neighbors rushed the victims to a hospital where both were declared dead upon arrival.
Background of the Tragic Relationship Dynamics
The police investigation has uncovered that Shabnam and Faheem had been involved in a relationship for over two years. Tensions within the household escalated significantly after Rashid learned about the alleged affair approximately six months ago, coinciding with their eldest son's wedding.
Family members and neighbors informed authorities that Rashid had objected to the relationship and repeatedly asked his wife to end it, but the dispute persisted. About a week before the murders, Rashid and Faheem had a confrontation over the same issue.
Further complicating matters, police discovered that Shabnam had expressed intentions to seek a divorce and sell the house, which she owned. This financial aspect may have contributed to the tragic outcome, according to senior investigating officers.
Criminal Histories and Police Investigation Details
Both Rashid and Faheem had prior criminal records, police revealed. Faheem faced multiple cases including attempt to murder, theft, and violations of the Arms Act at local police stations. Rashid had been arrested in a theft case in 2023.
An FIR has been registered against Rashid under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, based on a complaint filed by Faheem's father. Police teams are conducting extensive raids to locate the accused and recover the murder weapon.
DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari confirmed that both victims were shot in the head, likely from close range. The bodies have been sent for autopsy, though reports are still awaited. Loni ACP Siddharth Gautam stated that Rashid had concealed the pistol inside the home prior to the incident.
Family Context and Ongoing Investigation
The couple had been married for several years and had seven children ranging in age from 1.5 to 20 years. Police are yet to formally record the statement of the seven-year-old eyewitness, though initial accounts suggest he provided crucial details about the sequence of events.
Investigators are working to determine how and when Rashid obtained the firearm, which could reveal whether the murders were premeditated. The police are also examining whether Rashid deliberately waited until he believed all his children were asleep before confronting the victims.
The case continues to develop as authorities pursue multiple angles in their investigation, including the possibility of financial motives alongside the emotional betrayal that apparently triggered the violent outburst.
