Ghaziabad Implements Traffic Diversions for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Meerut Visit
In preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Meerut on February 22, significant traffic diversions will be enforced in Ghaziabad. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the 82-kilometer Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor and the Meerut Metro, necessitating these measures to ensure smooth event proceedings.
Restriction Details and Timings
The traffic restrictions will be effective from 6:00 AM on February 22 and will remain in place until the conclusion of the event. According to DCP (Traffic) Trigun Bisen, these measures are crucial to manage the expected high volume of vehicular movement and maintain security protocols.
Key prohibitions include:
- Complete ban on heavy commercial vehicles and private four-wheelers, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers moving from Rajchoupla Modinagar towards Mohiuddinpur in Meerut.
- All heavy commercial vehicles and private buses traveling from Ghaziabad to Meerut are prohibited on the Modinagar-Meerut route. These vehicles are advised to use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway via Duhai as an alternative.
- Heavy commercial vehicles and private vehicles coming from Kundli and Palwal via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway will not be permitted to exit at Duhai towards Ghaziabad. They must continue their journey using the Delhi–Meerut Expressway, Dasna interchange, and NH-9.
Additional Route Adjustments
Police have also announced that vehicles heading towards Meerut through Rajchoupla Modinagar using internal and link roads will face restrictions. Instead, these vehicles are encouraged to utilize the Bhojpur–Hapur route to reach Meerut. Furthermore, during the restriction period, heavy commercial vehicles and buses moving from Bhojpur and Niwadi towards Rajchoupla Modinagar will not be allowed.
Additionally, the movement of heavy commercial vehicles and private buses towards Meerut on the Muradnagar–Modinagar–Niwadi route via Gangnahar Patri will remain prohibited. These comprehensive diversions aim to minimize congestion and ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic flow during the high-profile event.
Authorities urge commuters and transport operators to plan their journeys accordingly and adhere to the specified routes to avoid delays and disruptions. The inauguration of the Namo Bharat corridor and Meerut Metro is a significant infrastructure development, and these traffic measures are implemented to facilitate a successful event.
