On Wednesday evening, a three-year-old girl, identified as Kavya, was reportedly beaten to death by her stepmother. The local police have swiftly taken action, arresting the accused woman, Poonam Devi, aged 32, who is a native of Aligarh.

Kavya lived with her father, Vinod Kumar, a cab driver based in Noida, and her five-year-old brother. The family situation was complicated after Kavya's biological mother left them. According to family members, Poonam Devi, the stepmother, had a history of mistreating the children. They alleged that she frequently assaulted both kids and often denied them food, creating a hostile environment in the household.
The Tragic Incident Unfolds
The tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening when Vinod Kumar was not at home. Taking advantage of his absence, Poonam Devi allegedly began beating both children. In a desperate attempt to escape, the five-year-old boy managed to run out of the house. However, little Kavya was not as fortunate and could not flee the brutal attack.
Relatives reported that the stepmother continued her assault on the girl with extreme violence, using a wooden stick and an iron rod. The severity of the beating left Kavya critically injured and unconscious.
Neighbor's Intervention and Medical Response
A neighbor, Sunil Kumar, played a crucial role in the aftermath. His daughter alerted him to the commotion, prompting him to rush to the scene. Upon arrival, he found the child lying unconscious, with the accused woman standing nearby. Sunil Kumar immediately helped transport Kavya to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, doctors at the hospital declared Kavya dead upon arrival. The injuries sustained during the alleged beating were too severe for her to survive, marking a devastating loss for the family and community.
