A tragic incident occurred in Naramau village under the Bithoor police station limits in Kanpur late Wednesday evening, where a six-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by a tractor. The victim, identified as Ritika, was a Class I student.
Incident Details
According to police reports, the accident took place around 7:30 pm when Ritika was playing outside her home. A tractor traveling at high speed from Mandhana towards Kalyanpur lost control and hit the girl, crushing her and causing instant death.
Allegations Against Driver
Witnesses at the scene alleged that the tractor driver was under the influence of alcohol and unable to maintain control of the vehicle. After the accident, the driver attempted to flee, but local residents caught him, subjected him to a beating, and subsequently handed him over to the police.
Police Response
Bithoor Inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj confirmed that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. He stated that a formal report will be filed and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the complaint lodged by the victim's family.
