A 17-year-old girl was critically injured after a stalker allegedly attacked her with an axe and attempted to hang her from a terrace in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district on Friday. The incident has sparked outrage in the village, with locals demanding immediate action against the accused.
Details of the Attack
The girl suffered severe head injuries and was initially treated at Shivpuri Medical College before being referred to Gwalior. Doctors reported that she required over 60 stitches to close her wounds. The attack took place in a village under the jurisdiction of the Khod police outpost.
Accused Identified
Police have identified the main accused as Dharmendra Parihar, 22. According to authorities and local residents, tension had been brewing between the two families due to an old rivalry. Villagers alleged that Dharmendra was obsessed with the minor and had stopped her on a road approximately 15 days ago, leading to a dispute between the families. A village panchayat was later convened, and a compromise was reportedly reached.
Sequence of Events
Police stated that the girl was alone at home on Friday morning when the accused allegedly entered the house and attacked her with an axe. She reportedly ran to the terrace to escape, but he followed her. The victim's family alleged that the accused tied a noose around her neck, hung her from the terrace, then threw her to the ground before fleeing.
Community Outrage
The attack sparked widespread anger in the village. Family members and locals blocked the Khod-Sirsod road for nearly two hours, demanding immediate arrests and strict action against the accused. Police have booked five individuals in connection with the case. Dharmendra Parihar and his father, Ajab Singh Parihar, have been taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and further arrests are expected as the case develops.
